KSB Annual Sports Event Years: 2025
Each year, KSB proudly hosts a special sports event to celebrate KSB Day, bringing together diverse ethnic communities—including Karenni, Chin, and Burmese—to promote unity through the power of sport.
Sports have always played a meaningful role in our community. At KSB Day, we feature a variety of games, including soccer, takraw, and both men’s and women’s volleyball. This event not only showcases athletic talent but also serves as a platform to strengthen the bonds among the Karen people and our wider ethnic community.
We are honored to welcome participants and attendees from across New York State, as well as from neighboring states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Connecticut, and Indiana. Our goal is to grow this event into a nationally recognized celebration—one where Karen people and other ethnic groups from across the United States can come together in unity and pride.
If you are interested in sponsoring this meaningful event in any way, we warmly encourage you to reach out. Your support helps us build a stronger, more connected community.
Karen Traditional Wrist-tying Ceremony
. "Before Buddhism or Christianity was introduced to the Karen people, our ancient ancestors and great grandmothers and grandfathers, lived in fear of different spirits. Therefore, our parents and grandparents used white thread, which they tied on the wrists of children after calling back their spirits. It meant that the person and one's spirit would stay together and could live free from fear"
