Introduction to Computers

What is a Computer?

A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information or data. It has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data. You may already know that you can use a computer to type documents, send emails, play games, and browse the Web. You can also use it to edit or create spreadsheets, presentations, and even videos.

Why Use Computers?

COMPUTERS IMPROVE HUMAN CAPACITY

  • Using computers can help us achieve faster results in our daily activities. In addition to that, it can help us obtain results with fewer errors through logical processing, ultimately giving the opportunity for cheaper processes through automation. We can consider examples such as billing systems, ticketing or booking systems, etc.

COMPUTERS HELP US USE THE INTERNET

  • Computers are the primary devices that enable us to access the Internet, which is the key source of information and the key medium of communication these days. While the internet contains all kinds of information, computers help us refine it for our use. Easy communication over the internet today is mostly accessible through computers today.

What is the Internet & how does it work?

You can do all of this by connecting a computer to the Internet, which is also called going online. When someone says a computer is online, it's just another way of saying it's connected to the Internet.
